Tensions Rise at JIMS Hospital as Outsourced Workers Protest Intensifies

Noida, June 25: Tensions escalated at the Rajkiya Ayurvigyan Sansthan (JIMS) in Greater Noida as outsourced employees intensified their protest on Wednesday. A video capturing the scuffle between the protesting workers and police has gone viral on social media. The employees have leveled serious allegations against the police, claiming physical assault and misconduct during the confrontation. Several female workers reported injuries during the incident.

Since June 15, non-academic staff working through outsourcing have been on an indefinite strike, demanding permanent employment. They argue that despite years of service, they have not been regularized. According to hospital administration, the ongoing protests and strikes have disrupted hospital services.

The administration stated that multiple attempts were made to resolve the issue through discussions. District administration, police, and institutional officials have engaged with the protesting employees 10 to 15 times. On Wednesday, discussions lasted for about five to six hours with the DCP, ADM, and other officials. The administration claims that employee representatives initially agreed to end the protest but later reversed their decision.

The hospital management accused the protesters of blocking the main entrance and patient registration area, causing significant inconvenience to patients and disrupting hospital operations. They also alleged that some nursing staff in the ICU refused to work, affecting the condition of 12 critical patients. Subsequently, doctors and other nursing staff took over patient care.

Conversely, the protesting employees alleged that police used force and exhibited inappropriate behavior during their removal. Many female workers reported injuries. The police, however, dismissed all allegations of assault and baton charges as baseless.

According to the police, the ongoing protest in the main hospital building was disrupting medical services. They only requested the workers to change their protest location, but the situation escalated due to resistance from some individuals.

Police officials stated that order has been maintained, and necessary legal actions are underway. Currently, the situation at JIMS Hospital is reported to be under control, but the standoff between employees and administration continues.
