Tennessee Titans Narrow Down Head Coach Candidates with Key Interviews Scheduled

The Tennessee Titans have intensified their search for a new head coach, scheduling interviews with several prominent candidates from the NFL. The team is considering a diverse group of coaches, ranging from defensive coordinators to experienced head coaches, as they aim to find the right fit for their vacant position.

Prominent Defensive and Offensive Coordinators in the Spotlight

The Titans have officially requested interviews with multiple coordinators currently leading respected NFL teams. These include Chris Shula of the Los Angeles Rams, Jesse Minter of the Los Angeles Chargers, Robert Saleh of the San Francisco 49ers, and Arthur Smith of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shula, who has risen through the Ramsโ€™ coaching ranks since 2017, brings valuable connections from the Sean McVay coaching tree. Minter, familiar with Nashville from his time at Vanderbilt, joined the Chargers alongside Jim Harbaugh in 2024.

Robert Salehโ€™s candidacy has sparked varied opinions among fans due to his challenging tenure as the New York Jets head coach. Meanwhile, Arthur Smith, despite a tough head coaching spell with the Atlanta Falcons, is recognised for his offensive expertise and is being given another opportunity to lead.

Experienced Head Coaches Also Under Consideration

The Titans are also set to interview former head coaches with significant NFL experience. Mike McCarthy, who previously coached the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys, is scheduled for an interview next Saturday. Jason Garrett, former Dallas Cowboys head coach, and Kliff Kingsbury, who recently parted ways with the Washington Commanders, have also been interviewed or requested for interviews by the Titans. Kingsbury brings prior head coaching experience with the Arizona Cardinals and two years as an offensive coordinator in Washington.

Additional Candidates and Interview Updates

Interim Titans head coach Mike McCoy has completed his interview but is not expected to secure the permanent role. Other notable candidates include Kevin Stefanski, former Cleveland Browns head coach, and Raheem Morris, former Atlanta Falcons head coach, who is viewed as a potential defensive coordinator hire if not selected as head coach. The Titans have also made requests to interview Lou Anarumo of the Indianapolis Colts and Steve Spagnuolo of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The process remains active with more interviews and requests expected as the Titans evaluate a wide range of options from proven head coaches to promising coordinators. The organisation appears focused on securing a leader who can guide the team forward effectively in the coming seasons.
