Hyderabad, August 17: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Monday that the government will offer incentives to super-specialty doctors willing to work extra hours in government hospitals.
This announcement was made during a speech following the inauguration of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanath Nagar.
The Chief Minister also revealed that the construction of the new building for Osmania Hospital, along with TIMS in LB Nagar and super-specialty hospitals in Alwal and Warangal, is set to be completed by December 9, 2027.
Upon completion of these projects, the state will have a total of 10,000 hospital beds available. Each hospital will have a dedicated director responsible for overseeing operations and approving funds for essential facilities for patient attendants.
Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for these new TIMS hospitals to operate at par with corporate hospitals. He urged officials to provide financial incentives to super-specialty doctors who are willing to extend their service hours.
The Chief Minister claimed that since taking office, the ‘people’s government’ has taken steps to complete TIMS hospitals in Sanath Nagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal, as well as the Warangal super-specialty hospital.
Expressing concern over the rising costs of healthcare services in private hospitals, he stated that the government established TIMS to make corporate-level healthcare accessible to the poor.
He noted that since assuming office, his government has spent ₹2,700 crores on the Aarogyasri scheme and released ₹2,526 crores under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). In total, ₹5,226 crores have been spent on healthcare for the underprivileged. Over the past two years, the government has invested ₹21,800 crores in the medical and health department.
Revanth Reddy criticized the previous BRS government for failing to construct a new building for Osmania Hospital, despite the current structure being in dilapidated condition. He accused the KCR government of only laying the foundation for TIMS and Warangal hospitals but leaving the projects unfinished.
