Hyderabad, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) launched a search operation on Tuesday at properties associated with Dr. N. Lakshmi, the additional superintendent of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). The raids stem from allegations that Dr. Lakshmi possesses assets beyond her known sources of income.
ACB officials initiated simultaneous searches at 13 locations across three districts, targeting both Dr. Lakshmi’s residences and those linked to her family members. Among the properties searched was the Kalpataru Residency in Moosapet, along with other locations in Hyderabad.
Dr. Lakshmi has been with NIMS for the past 20 years and has served as the additional superintendent for the last five years. This operation is part of a broader investigation into allegations of accumulating wealth disproportionate to her declared income, a claim that has surfaced previously.
The ACB is expected to release detailed results of the searches later in the day. Notably, this marks the first time the agency has conducted raids on properties linked to a senior official at one of Hyderabad’s major government hospitals.
In a related incident on Monday, the ACB apprehended two employees of the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of 5,000 rupees. The suspects, identified as Palda Ashok, a junior assistant in the establishment section, and Kalakuntla Kiran Kumar, an outsourcing employee in the auditing section, were caught in the act. They were reportedly soliciting bribes to facilitate pay raises and approve a monthly pension for a complainant’s mother.
According to the ACB, both individuals unlawfully profited 15,000 rupees, thereby failing to uphold their public duties. They have since been arrested and presented before a special court.
