Congress Leader Criticizes Madhya Pradesh Government for Agricultural Mismanagement
Jitu Patwari of Congress highlights agricultural failures in Madhya Pradesh, accusing the government of neglecting farmers and mishandling funds.

Bhopal, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Congress’s Madhya Pradesh president, Jitu Patwari, has voiced strong criticism of the state government’s agricultural policies. He highlighted alarming issues, including rice rotting under open skies and reports of bribery linked to subsidies.
Patwari pointed out that in Shahdol, millions of rupees worth of rice purchased at minimum support prices is being ruined by rain, while in Sehore, there are complaints of officials demanding bribes for releasing warehouse subsidies. These incidents reveal the government’s insensitivity toward farmers and the dire state of administrative practices.
He stated that approximately 9.44 lakh quintals of rice, valued at over ₹222 crore, has been left exposed to the elements since the 2025-26 procurement season. The lack of timely transportation and milling has put the farmers’ hard work at risk of wastage.
Patwari demanded accountability from the government, questioning why such a large quantity of rice was left unattended and who would bear the responsibility for the damage caused by rain. He also referred to the suspension of a marketing officer from the central agriculture ministry in Sehore, who faced allegations of soliciting bribes for subsidy approvals.
He emphasized that Congress will vigorously advocate for farmers’ rights, incomes, and issues related to their crops. The government must fulfill its responsibilities by providing real relief to farmers, rather than relying solely on announcements and statistics.
