Tehran, May 7: After 40 days of joint military attacks by the United States and Israel, daily life in Iran has been significantly affected. However, recent weeks have brought a glimmer of hope as the capital prepares to return to normalcy. Starting this Saturday, all ministries and government organizations will operate at full capacity, as announced by the Governor of Tehran.
Governor Mohammad Sadegh Motemidian declared on Thursday that all ministries, government organizations, and executive agencies in the Iranian capital will commence full operations on May 9 (Saturday). This information was reported by the semi-official Mehr News Agency.
According to the Governor, government departments will function with “100 percent staff,” while details regarding academic activities in schools and universities will be provided by the relevant education ministry.
Reports indicate that signs of normal life are gradually reappearing in Tehran. However, residents remain somewhat apprehensive, especially as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to issue threats alongside negotiations. Israel is also following a similar path, clearly stating that if Iran does not accept their ceasefire proposal, conflict may resume.
The uncertainty escalated on Monday when the U.S. attacked two Iranian military boats, prompting Iran to target a tanker at the Fujairah oil port in the UAE. This incident resulted in injuries to three Indians, which has drawn strong condemnation from India and several other nations.
The economic toll of the conflict has been substantial. Many have lost their jobs, and inflation is on the rise. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates that inflation could reach up to 70 percent this year.
