Vijayawada, August 16: Amid ongoing disputes regarding alleged irregularities in the mega DSC-2025 recruitment for 16,347 teaching positions in Andhra Pradesh, selected candidates organized a rally in Vijayawada on Sunday to denounce the accusations.
Newly recruited teachers from the former West Godavari, Krishna, and Prakasam districts participated in the rally, which commenced at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium and concluded at Ambedkar Smriti Vanam.
Participants claimed that these allegations were tarnishing their reputation and demanded that the opposition YSR Congress Party cease its ‘propaganda’ campaign.
The teachers asserted that their selection was based on merit and expressed that they felt humiliated by what they termed ‘baseless’ accusations following their hard work.
Approximately 5,000 participants joined the rally, holding placards with slogans. At Ambedkar Smriti Vanam, they presented a tribute in front of the statue of Ambedkar, praying for wisdom for the leaders of the YSR Congress Party.
The demonstrators insisted that the YSRCP stop making allegations, as it was damaging their ‘self-respect.’
Teachers recruited under the mega DSC-2025 had previously held similar protests in Kurnool, Tirupati, and other districts.
The YSR Congress Party and some candidates have accused the recruitment process of irregularities in exam administration, merit lists, certificate verification, horizontal reservations, and sports quotas.
Last week, the YSRCP organized a series of protests across the state, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in the DSC and the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh.
A total of 335 cases have been filed in courts regarding various aspects of the recruitment process, including 69 related to the sports quota. Three cases have been submitted to the Supreme Court.
The YSRCP has questioned the deviation from the previous practice of assigning the task of preparing question papers to the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and the exam administration to the DSC coordinator.
YSRCP MLC Parvathareddy Chandrashekar Reddy filed a public interest litigation in the High Court demanding a CBI investigation, arguing that assigning both tasks to SCERT compromised the transparency of the recruitment process.
However, the School Education Department has denied these allegations, asserting that the recruitment process was technology-based and compliant with regulations.
The department attributed many complaints to personal dissatisfaction and differences in interpreting the revised horizontal reservation system.
