Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol Variants Launched Starting at ₹12.89 Lakh

Tata Motors has introduced petrol variants of its popular Harrier and Safari SUVs in India, featuring the new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine first seen in the Tata Sierra. This addition expands the powertrain options for both models beyond their existing diesel offerings.

The petrol-powered Harrier is priced from ₹12.89 lakh, while the Safari petrol variant starts at ₹13.29 lakh, both prices being ex-showroom, New Delhi. The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine delivers 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. Customers can choose between manual and automatic transmissions across various trims.

Tata Motors claims that these petrol versions offer segment-leading fuel efficiency. Notably, the Harrier petrol version has earned a place in the India Book of Records for achieving the highest fuel efficiency by a petrol manual SUV during a 12-hour drive.

With enhanced refinement and significantly reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels, both SUVs maintain their premium features and capabilities. This update positions them as strong contenders in the petrol SUV segment.

The Harrier and Safari petrol models retain all the features introduced in their latest updates and incorporate additional amenities. These include a large 36.9 cm touchscreen infotainment system, Dolby Atmos-enabled audio, a digital rear-view mirror with an integrated dashcam, memory-operated outside rear-view mirrors with reverse assist, and a dual camera washer system.

Both SUVs come equipped with connected car technology and conveniences like a sliding front armrest and built-in navigation with voice assistant support. Safety remains a priority, as all petrol variants have secured a 5-star rating under the Bharat NCAP safety assessment, matching their diesel counterparts. They also continue to offer a Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with 22 safety features.

The Harrier petrol range includes Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Fearless trims, with select variants offering Dark and Red Dark editions. The Safari petrol is available in Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished trims, with six- and seven-seat options along with Dark and Red Dark editions at the premium end.

By adding petrol powertrains, Tata Motors aims to attract buyers seeking refined petrol performance while maintaining comprehensive features and safety across the Harrier and Safari lineups.
