Mumbai, March 19: The auspicious Chaitra Navratri festival commenced on Thursday, and the excitement surrounding this sacred celebration is palpable across the nation. Actress Tanisha Mukerji recently visited the renowned Kamakhya Devi Temple in Assam. She shared beautiful glimpses of her spiritual journey on Instagram.
Tanisha revealed that she completed this spiritual trip with her close friends, Swati and Harish.
In the posted photos, Tanisha is seen in the temple courtyard with her friends. Notably, both Tanisha and her friend wore sarees, showcasing a natural look without makeup, radiating beauty in their simplicity.
Tanisha expressed, “My visit to the Shri Kamakhya Shakti Peeth was incredibly peaceful and fulfilling. I felt a divine attraction and tranquility here. We were fortunate enough to enter the sanctum sanctorum twice. Sitting there, we meditated and performed a small puja, which made us feel wonderful.”
She further added, “This experience was so special and sacred that we almost missed the last ferry to the Umananda Temple located on Peacock Island.”
Tanisha explained that Umananda is regarded as the Kalabhairav of Kamakhya, making it essential to visit; otherwise, the journey is considered incomplete. She noted, “Since Umananda is considered the Kalabhairav of Kamakhya, this journey is not complete without visiting there. The Shivling at Umananda Temple is stunning. Photography was not allowed inside, but the view outside and the spiritual energy of the island will always remain in my memory.”
In her post, Tanisha praised India’s spirituality, stating that this divine energy constantly reminds us of how fortunate we are.
It’s worth mentioning that the Kamakhya Temple, located on the Nilachal Hills in Guwahati, Assam, is one of the most significant and ancient (8th-9th century) Shakti Peeths in India. It is believed that a part of Goddess Sati fell here, which is why there is no idol of the goddess; instead, a natural stone shaped like the yoni is worshipped. The Ambubachi Mela is held here in June during the goddess’s ‘Rajaswala’ phase.
Meanwhile, the Umananda Temple is a sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on an island in the Brahmaputra River, quite close to the Kamakhya Temple. Known as ‘Bhasmachal,’ this is where Shiva is said to have burnt Kamadeva. This location is renowned for its tantric practices and spiritual peace.
