Tamil Nadu BJP Leader Questions Renovation Work Without Tender Approval

Chennai, August 19: Tamil Nadu BJP leader Nainar Nagendran has raised concerns regarding the renovation work associated with the Chief Minister’s office, questioning how it commenced without the completion of the tender process. He accused the government of irregularities and demanded full transparency regarding the matter.

In his statement, Nagendran also targeted Minister Adhav Arjun for his responses in the assembly concerning the allocation and renovation of the Chief Minister’s office. The minister reportedly stated that the tender process has not yet concluded, while efforts are ongoing to modify the proposed changes in line with government officials’ security requirements.

Nagendran alleged that the minister’s explanation concealed several facts. He questioned why the renovation work began if the tender process was still incomplete. He also inquired whether the government had predetermined that a specific individual would be entrusted with the entire responsibility.

Additionally, the BJP sought clarification on whether previous governments also initiated work without issuing tenders. They questioned why advertisements in newspapers indicated the project’s estimated cost at ₹5.54 crores, while the online tender did not mention this cost.

Nagendran claimed that halting the online tender cost would discourage other eligible contractors from participating in the process. He urged the government to clarify the entire procedure and work towards making it transparent.

When referencing former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Nagendran noted that instead of making improvements in her office, she opted to relocate the entire secretariat. He questioned why the current government is focusing solely on the renovation of the Chief Minister’s office.

He dismissed the argument that the renovation process is being initiated for the convenience of officials, pointing out that all ministers work alongside secretaries and other staff. According to him, isolating just one section for extensive renovation raises several questions about the necessity of the project.

Nagendran called on the government to provide logical reasons for upgrading the Chief Minister’s office and to present evidence related to the tender. He emphasized that the administration must respond to allegations of bias and present all facts to the public.
