Bern, 20 August (Kiran News). Switzerland has indicated its readiness to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, during a diplomatic conference in Bern on Tuesday, stated that if Russian President Vladimir Putin participates in these talks, Switzerland will make special arrangements for it.

In a conversation with Swiss broadcaster SRF, Cassis said, “We are ready for this and are grateful for the trust shown in us. We have always expressed our willingness, but it will all depend on the wishes of the major powers.”
The Swiss Foreign Minister clarified that, considering the International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant against Putin, the government has reviewed the legal situation. He said, “We know how to organise such a meeting smoothly. Due to our special role and the presence of the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, we can do this.”
The Swiss Foreign Ministry also told Russian news agency RIA Novosti that if all parties wish and need it, Switzerland is ready to offer its services, including acting as host or mediator.
