Mumbai, May 9: Actress Surbhi Chandna is thrilled about her new web series, ‘Ishq Dam Aur Idli Rasam.’ Notably, she has co-produced this series. Surbhi describes the upcoming show as a heartwarming tale that celebrates family, love, emotions, and cultural heritage.
Produced by Balaji Telefilms, the series will take viewers through the aromatic journey of an old South Indian restaurant, showcasing the depth of food, memories, and relationships. The story revolves around a struggling South Indian restaurant, with Meera Nair at its center, portrayed by Shiny Doshi. Meera is a passionate chef who believes that food is not just sustenance but also a service, comfort, and responsibility. Managing her late father’s legacy, she views the restaurant as an integral part of her emotions and values, rather than just a business.
As the narrative unfolds, Arjun Thakur, played by Abhishek Kumar, enters the scene. He is a chef and investor who shakes up Meera’s world when he arrives at her restaurant. While he promises to revive the establishment, he also poses a threat to everything Meera holds dear.
Surbhi describes this project as a new chapter in her career, expressing her desire to keep evolving. She shared, “‘Ishq Dam Aur Idli Rasam’ feels like a dream come true for me, working with Balaji Telefilms. This show is special because it is filled with heart, warmth, and simplicity. From the beginning, I felt a deep connection to this project. Being part of the creative journey behind the camera and emotionally connecting with the story has been a beautiful experience. This show celebrates love, family, emotions, and culture in a refreshing way.”
Abhishek Kumar also discussed his character, Arjun Thakur, stating, “This is not just a typical love story or a standard chef drama. Here, food serves as a means to understand people’s emotions, control, and past. Arjun is one of the most challenging characters I’ve portrayed. He is serious, controlled, and hides his emotions. This show has allowed me to grow as an actor.”
The series features Shiny Doshi and Abhishek Kumar, along with Neha Laxmi Aiyar, Aman Singh, Prerna Sehgal, Vijaya Lakshmi Gurav, and Karan Khanna in significant roles. ‘Ishq Dam Aur Idli Rasam,’ produced by Balaji Telefilms and executive produced by Surbhi Chandna of Feel Good Studios, will stream on YouTube starting May 11.
