Mumbai, April 25: A significant shift in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leadership has occurred following the sudden and tragic passing of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar.
Supriya Pawar has been sworn in as the state’s first female Deputy Chief Minister and appointed as the NCP President, centralizing all executive powers within the party.
To ensure organizational stability and streamline operations, Supriya Pawar has implemented a three-tier responsibility structure within the family.
Political analysts believe this move is a strategic effort to maintain control within the family and prevent potential internal coups by senior NCP leaders.
Supriya Pawar will oversee the statewide party organization and hold final decision-making authority, leading the party’s development strategy.
Her elder son, Parth Pawar, a member of the Rajya Sabha, will manage the party’s operations in Delhi and Mumbai. Meanwhile, her younger son, Jai Pawar, will supervise rural areas in Baramati, Beed, and Pune.
Supriya Pawar is actively traveling across the state to strengthen the party’s grassroots support. The involvement of Parth Pawar in the national capital and Jai Pawar in rural regions signals a long-term strategy to uphold Ajit Pawar’s legacy and maintain the party’s influence in Maharashtra politics.
Recently, the political landscape in Baramati heated up during the by-elections. Jai Pawar hinted at the beginning of his electoral career, stating, “I don’t often speak to the media, but there is a strong demand from the public and NCP workers for me to be the party candidate from Baramati in 2029. I wish to continue working as a party worker, but I will respect the public’s wishes.”
