Shivpuri, September 2: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia visited the newly constructed Amrit Bharat Railway Station and the ongoing railway overbridge project in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday. He inaugurated development projects exceeding ₹17.5 crore.
As the Member of Parliament for the Guna constituency, Scindia assessed the facilities for passengers at the Shivpuri Railway Station and the progress of the redevelopment work.
He also reviewed the construction of the Pohri railway overbridge and gathered information on its progress.
The Union Minister stated that the modern railway station, recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would enhance rail connectivity and improve passenger amenities in the region.
Scindia remarked, “Projects like the Amrit Bharat Railway Station and the railway overbridge will strengthen Shivpuri’s trade, tourism, and connectivity, giving a new impetus to the area’s development.”
During his inspection of the railway station, Scindia honored Assistant Sub-Inspector Virendra Tiwari of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Tiwari had saved a woman who was about to fall between a train and the platform.
On August 30, 35-year-old Nirmala Devi from Shivpuri lost her balance while boarding the Gwalior-Bina Passenger Train No. 51884. Tiwari, on duty, quickly caught her and pulled her to safety.
Praising Tiwari’s bravery and dedication, Scindia said, “Because of your courage, a woman’s life is safe today. No amount of thanks is enough for what you have done.”
He emphasized the need for brave and compassionate individuals like RPF officers in society.
During his visit, Scindia inaugurated a pre-matric boys’ hostel with 50 seats for Scheduled Caste students, a primary health center in Tanpur, an electricity sub-station in Singhanivas, and the Tharra sub-tehsil.
The hostel was constructed at a cost of ₹4.99 crore, while the health center and electricity sub-station cost ₹2.95 crore and ₹2.77 crore, respectively. The Tharra sub-tehsil was built for ₹1.24 crore.
He also performed the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ for ₹5 crore worth of municipal road construction and the building of a government middle school in Singhanivas, estimated to cost ₹51 lakh. Discussing the hostel, Scindia highlighted that education is a vital means of social empowerment, referencing B.R. Ambedkar’s vision.
He stated, “Our priority is to ensure that every family in Shivpuri benefits from development, from education and healthcare to electricity, roads, and administrative facilities.”
The Union Minister concluded that these projects would strengthen basic public amenities and accelerate development in Shivpuri and surrounding areas.
