Support for Prime Minister Modis Call Grows, Says R. Ashok

Bengaluru, May 13: Karnataka’s Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader R. Ashok stated on Wednesday that citizens are responding positively to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation and reducing the use of petroleum products. This initiative also includes avoiding unnecessary purchases of gold.

Speaking to reporters at the BJP’s state office, Jagannath Bhavan, Ashok mentioned that he and his family are adhering to the Prime Minister’s call.

“We are reducing our use of petrol and diesel in our vehicles by 30 to 50 percent. Security vehicles will only be used in unavoidable situations,” he said.

Ashok noted that global conflicts have created challenging circumstances worldwide. He emphasized that the public is accepting the Prime Minister’s appeal well.

In response to a question, he added that he has instructed his family members to minimize the use of cooking oil at home.

He further stated that central ministers and officials have begun responding to the Prime Minister’s appeal by adopting public transport systems like the metro.

N. Ravikumar, BJP MLC and Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to stop opposing the suggestions made by Prime Minister Modi for the country’s benefit.

Ravikumar told reporters that many companies are considering a work-from-home arrangement three days a week in response to the Prime Minister’s appeal.

He criticized senior Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad, labeling his comments as irresponsible. “Experienced politicians like B.K. Hariprasad are making childish and frivolous statements. There is no benefit in responding to their remarks,” he said.

Ravikumar reiterated that Prime Minister Modi has urged people to reduce the consumption of petroleum products and cooking gas, minimize gold purchases for a year unless absolutely necessary, and utilize public transport systems.

“Our intention is not to trouble the people. The ongoing war is affecting the supply of petroleum products and gas, and despite discussions, the conflict continues,” he added.

He mentioned that both the public and governments are responding positively to the Prime Minister’s appeal.

Ravikumar accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party of opposing this initiative merely out of habit to criticize the central government.

He emphasized that the Prime Minister’s appeal should be welcomed as it aims to protect the country’s economy, job opportunities, and foreign exchange reserves.

He urged, “People should support this call.”

Ravikumar also referenced an incident in Akola, alleging that BJP worker Nagaraj Nayak has been harassed and called for action against Gopalakrishna Nayak for attempting to attack him.

“Nagaraj Nayak has been protesting and on a hunger strike for the past week, and he has requested police protection for the BJP worker,” he stated.
