Mumbai, July 2: The film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,’ released on June 15, 2001, was a massive blockbuster of its time. Its sequel, ‘Gadar 2,’ has also made waves at the box office. The on-screen pairing of Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel was highly appreciated. Recently, Amisha shared an intriguing story related to the film during her appearance on ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 5.’
In the show, Amisha Patel revealed, “During the shooting of ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,’ I was completely new to the industry. It was a huge project for me, and there was a lot of pressure. At the same time, I was also shooting for another major film, ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai,’ which made my schedule even more challenging. Managing two different types of films simultaneously was not easy, and this period became the most challenging time of my career.”
Amisha added, “In the film, I played the character Sakina, which required a lot of understanding. There were times when I couldn’t perform well in emotional scenes, causing the shoot to halt. As a result, director Anil Sharma had to take multiple retakes, and sometimes he would get frustrated.”
She continued, “The atmosphere on set was quite tense because the constant retakes were delaying the shooting. During this time, actor Sunny Deol was incredibly helpful. He understood my struggles. Often, he would ask the director for a break and take charge of the scene himself.”
Amisha explained, “Sunny would step into a director-like role on several occasions. He would explain the scene to me and help me bring out the right emotions, which often led to my shot being completed in just one take. This was a significant support for me, as I was in a learning phase and experiencing something new every day.”
She noted, “Sunny Deol is very calm and shy in real life, but our bond strengthened significantly during the shooting. Many people on set were surprised to see such a good rapport between a new actress and such a big star. He was always there for me, and if I faced any issues, he would immediately step in to help.”
