
Mumbai, March 21: In a tragic incident at Uday Pratap College, a B.Sc. student named Surya Pratap Singh was killed following a shooting. According to ADC Neetu Katyayan, the body was taken for cremation after the post-mortem examination. Some students who were protesting outside the college have now entered the premises and continue their sit-in demanding justice. The main suspect in the shooting is now in police custody.
Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Shivhari Meena reported that a dispute arose between two students at the college. One student pulled out a gun and fired, injuring the other. The injured student was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, students vandalized the campus and staged protests. A heavy police presence has been deployed to maintain order.
After the shooting, the suspect, Manjeet Simb, fled the scene, discarding the weapon. Police recovered a pistol and five bullets from the college grounds. Forensic teams arrived to investigate the scene. Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal and other officials quickly reached the location, along with officers from ten nearby police stations. The deceased, Surya Pratap Singh, hailed from Dubaittha village in the Saidpur area of Ghazipur and was a fourth-semester B.Sc. student at the college.
