Strong Coordination Among Institutions Essential for National Security: Mizoram Governor

New Delhi, April 22: Mizoram Governor General (Retd) Vijay Kumar Singh emphasized that national security does not solely rely on the strength of individual institutions; effective coordination among them is crucial.

While addressing participants of the ‘Advanced Professional Program in Public Administration’ at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi, he reiterated that national security is ensured not just through institutional capacity but through coordinated and unified efforts.

He stated that the ‘whole-of-government’ approach begins with a shift in mindset, advocating for an integrated governance system rather than fragmented operations.

According to him, all levels, from central government ministries to district administration, should function as a connected and unified system.

Citing the PM Gati Shakti initiative, he noted that coordinated efforts among various ministries, state governments, and local bodies have led to improved outcomes in infrastructure planning.

He explained that this model demonstrates that when there is synergy in policies, resources, and implementation, tasks become more effective, and resource wastage decreases.

The Governor also mentioned that breaking down institutional barriers and fostering a culture of collaboration is essential for better governance. He stressed that this coordination should not be limited to high-level meetings but should also actively involve local administration and communities at the district level.

In conclusion, he stated that a secure nation is built on trust, shared responsibility, and collective efforts.

In a separate event, he participated in the Youth Festival 2026, jointly organized by ICFAI University Mizoram and the state tourism department at the Durtlang North campus in Aizawl.

He praised the event, highlighting its importance as a platform for inspiring youth and providing learning opportunities.

He remarked that such programs are highly beneficial for students and play a significant role in shaping their futures.

He emphasized the need for continuous investment in youth development, referring to them as the foundation of the nation’s future.

He identified skill development and upskilling as vital for job creation and enhancing employability.

The Governor noted that the best education often comes through direct interaction with people, making such festivals very effective.

Discussing the potential of Mizoram’s tourism sector, he mentioned that the state already boasts several natural advantages, such as pleasant weather, beautiful scenery, and a clean environment.

He stated that with better facilities and tourist-friendly arrangements, Mizoram could attract more visitors.

He also stressed the importance of promoting eco-friendly tourism while maintaining a balance with the environment.

Encouraging youth to participate enthusiastically and learn, he expressed hope that this youth festival would yield positive results for Mizoram and its people.
