Patna, April 23: The political landscape in Bihar has become increasingly heated following independent MP Pappu Yadav’s controversial remarks regarding women. Leaders from both the NDA and opposition parties have united in condemning his statements.
Congress MP Abhishek Ranjan commented, “This remark reflects his personal opinion. Many leaders find themselves embroiled in sex scandals; this cannot be ignored. I prefer not to comment further on Pappu Yadav’s statement, as it is his personal view. However, there is some truth to it.”
RJD MLA Alok Kumar Mehta firmly stated, “We do not support any statements that disrespect or harm the dignity of women.”
RLM MLA Madhav Anand highlighted Yadav’s parliamentary experience, stating, “Pappu Yadav has served as an MP multiple times. It is unfortunate for such an experienced leader to make such a statement. No amount of condemnation is sufficient.”
LJP MLA Raju Tiwari criticized the remarks, saying, “In this country, we worship the power of women. This statement is extremely unfortunate.”
BJP national spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan expressed strong disapproval during a press interaction, stating, “Such insensitivity towards women is unacceptable. Nothing could be more unfortunate. The ‘Indi’ alliance, along with Congress, SP, and RJD, has obstructed progressive laws like the Women’s Empowerment Act for decades. They committed a significant injustice by halting this act during a historic opportunity. History and the power of motherhood will never forgive them.”
JDU leader Shravan Kumar remarked, “No one should make such derogatory comments about others. If he has done so, he should publicly apologize.”
JDU leader Devesh Chandra Thakur added, “This is such a shameful statement that I do not wish to comment further. He is a prominent leader and has been an MP for many years. I cannot understand how he could make such a statement.”
In the wake of this controversy, the Bihar State Women’s Commission has issued a notice to Pappu Yadav, demanding a response. Several women’s organizations and leaders have also called for the termination of his membership in the Lok Sabha.
