Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Launches Campaign to Promote Marathi Language

Mumbai, April 22: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has initiated a new campaign in Goregaon aimed at promoting the Marathi language. As part of this initiative, auto-rickshaw drivers in the city are being organized to display boards stating, “I speak Marathi” on their vehicles.

The party asserts that this step is intended to enhance the importance of the local language and encourage people to learn Marathi. MNS leader Sanjay Naik addressed the media on Wednesday regarding this campaign.

Naik clarified that their goal is not to target any specific community but to raise awareness about the state’s language. He also expressed regret if their campaign has hurt anyone’s sentiments.

“I am fighting for the Marathi language. I also speak Hindi well, but I want everyone to understand that North Indians have been living in Maharashtra for many years, supporting their families. They are part of our society, and we should respect their contributions,” Naik stated.

He further emphasized that just as every state has its own identity and language, Maharashtra has its own language and cultural heritage. According to him, it is essential for those living and working in the state to learn Marathi.

Naik stressed that learning the local language not only facilitates social integration but also demonstrates respect for the state’s culture.

The MNS leader made it clear that this campaign is not against anyone but is intended to convey a positive message. He remarked, “If you want to live in Maharashtra, work here, and support a family, learning and using the Marathi language is crucial.”

The campaign has sparked varied reactions in political and social circles. While some view it as a positive step towards promoting local language and culture, others perceive it as an attempt to exert pressure in the name of regional identity.
