Special Envoy of Xi Jinping Attends Swearing-In Ceremony of Congo President

Beijing, April 18: On April 16, at the invitation of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, the special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Shao Hong, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Sassou Nguesso in the capital of the Republic of Congo, Brazzaville. On April 17, Sassou Nguesso met with Shao Hong at the Presidential Palace.

Shao Hong extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes from President Xi Jinping to Sassou Nguesso. He emphasized the long-standing friendship between China and the Republic of Congo, which remains strong today. China values the development of Sino-Congolese relations highly and is eager to work together with the Republic of Congo to implement the agreements made by both presidents, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, fulfill its responsibilities as a co-chair of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, and guide the development of China-Africa relations and solidarity among the Global South.

Sassou Nguesso requested Shao Hong to convey his warm wishes to President Xi Jinping and thanked him for sending a special envoy to his inauguration ceremony. He expressed high appreciation for the Congo-China relationship, emphasizing that the Republic of Congo cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries. He looks forward to deepening friendly cooperation with China in various fields, strengthening communication and coordination on international pressing issues, and elevating the high-level China-Congo community with a shared future to new heights.
