Baloch Activist Accuses Chief Minister Bugti of Being a Proxy for Pakistani Soldiers

Washington, April 20: Baloch American Congress President Tara Chand has launched a fierce attack on Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, labeling him a “proxy for Pakistani soldiers.”

Chand also condemned the arrest of Baloch Unity Committee (BYC) leaders Mehrang Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and Bebow Baloch, alleging that they have been imprisoned for months without solid justification.

On the social media platform X, he stated that it is shameful to detain innocent Baloch women for extended periods. He criticized leaders who claim to represent the Baloch people, asserting that they are unjustly imprisoning Baloch daughters, revealing their role as mere “puppets” of the military.

Chand denounced ministers and ruling leaders within the Balochistan government, claiming they operate as agents for Pakistani soldiers in the provincial assembly. He urged these leaders to feel shame for their actions rather than identifying as Baloch, emphasizing that the Baloch public must now demand accountability.

Last month, Baloch National Movement (BNM) President Naseem Baloch also appealed to the international community to break its silence regarding the alleged “illegal detention” of BYC leaders. He stated that these leaders, held for over a year, are victims of injustice, which violates international human rights and legal processes.

Naseem Baloch pointed out that their only “crime” was speaking out against enforced disappearances and oppression in Balochistan. He called on the global community to intervene in this matter.

Recently, several human rights organizations have also demanded the immediate release of BYC leaders, insisting that all “false and politically motivated charges” against them be withdrawn and that fair and independent hearings be ensured.
