Lucknow, July 11: Avadhesh Prasad, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party, has launched a scathing attack on the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted several pressing issues, including the appointment of administrators in district panchayats, the murder of a Dalit student in Meerut, funding for madrasas, and the ongoing fertilizer crisis in the state. Prasad accused the government of diverting public attention from real issues.
Regarding the decision to appoint administrators for district panchayats, Prasad pointed out that the current chairpersons, whose five-year term ends on Saturday, are being reappointed. He questioned the government’s commitment to the ‘One Nation, One Election’ policy when it fails to conduct timely district panchayat elections.
He stated, “If the government cannot hold district panchayat elections, then the idea of ‘One Nation, One Election’ is merely a fantasy.”
On the tragic murder of a Dalit student in Meerut, Prasad expressed deep concern. He noted that the Supreme Court has urged political parties to refrain from politicizing the issue. While he refrained from naming individuals, he remarked that some people are making statements on the matter, but he prefers not to comment on specific individuals.
Prasad alleged that atrocities against women and Dalits have surged under the BJP government. He remarked, “Under Yogi Adityanath’s administration, violence against women and Dalits has escalated, crossing all limits. This is due to the diminishing influence of the government. When governance weakens, such incidents increase.”
He emphasized that the Constitution grants all citizens the right to voice their concerns, question the government, and fight against injustice. Using the constitutional rights provided by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he asserted that holding the government accountable is a democratic right. He criticized the government for turning a blind eye to problems instead of addressing them.
On the issue of funding for madrasas, he claimed that the BJP and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have their distinct political identities. He accused the government of repeatedly raising issues related to prayers, madrasas, and Muslims instead of focusing on real problems.
Prasad highlighted the severe shortage of fertilizer faced by farmers across the state. He noted that rice cultivation requires significant fertilizer, yet farmers are not receiving adequate supplies. He claimed that the fertilizer crisis has led to widespread discontent among farmers.
The Samajwadi Party MP also alleged that there have been ongoing paper leaks in various cases within the state. Reports related to the Ayodhya committee have also been leaked. Despite this, he criticized the Chief Minister for prioritizing his political image over addressing these pressing issues.
Prasad concluded by stating that the government lacks a solid plan to provide employment to youth, resolve farmers’ issues, ensure women’s safety, and curb atrocities against Dalits. He accused the government of raising topics like prayers, madrasas, and Muslims repeatedly when it fails to address critical issues.
