Mumbai, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : In a touching tribute following the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, actress and BJP leader Smriti Irani took to Instagram to share her memories. She reflected on their close relationship, revealing that while the world knew him as Nana Patekar, she affectionately called him “Dada.”
In the shared video, Patekar is seen cooking fish fry for Irani, showcasing a personal side of the beloved actor. Irani wrote in her caption, “Dada, that’s what I called him. He would call me without any formalities, simply asking, ‘Where are you?'”
Irani reminisced about the few photographs she had taken with Patekar, expressing regret that she hadn’t captured more moments. She would occasionally call him, introducing him to young artists who idolized him. Patekar always engaged with them warmly, revealing the kindness beneath his seemingly stern exterior.
One of Irani’s fondest memories involves Patekar preparing a meal for her without any special occasion. “He simply cooked for me in his unique style,” she recalled.
She also shared her last conversation with him, where he inquired about her plans to visit Pune. “I told him I would come soon, and now I keep remembering that,” she said.
Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday at the age of 75. Reports indicate that he experienced health issues at his home in Dona Paula, Goa, prompting immediate medical attention. Despite receiving CPR for approximately 45 minutes, he could not be saved.
