
Lucknow, June 23: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating alleged misappropriation and theft of donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya has submitted its initial report to the Uttar Pradesh government. This report was handed over to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary, Sanjay Prasad. However, the investigation is ongoing, and a final report will be presented later.
Following directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, a three-member SIT was formed to probe the matter. Chaired by Lucknow Division Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, the SIT conducted an in-depth investigation over six days in Ayodhya.
During the investigation, the SIT interrogated over fifty individuals, including temple administration staff, security personnel, trust members, and other relevant parties. The team examined various aspects related to the counting of donations, their maintenance, security arrangements, and the alleged irregularities.
Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant stated that the SIT has submitted its initial report to the government. He emphasized that this is a confidential investigation and that only the preliminary report has been presented. The facts and findings related to the investigation have been included in the report for the government’s awareness.
He clarified that the investigation process is still ongoing, and several points are under scrutiny. The final report will be submitted to the government once it is completed.
It is noteworthy that the case gained attention following allegations of irregularities and embezzlement in the donations received at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. Given the seriousness of the matter and the faith of millions of devotees, the state government established the three-member SIT.
The SIT comprises Lucknow Division Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police for the Lucknow Zone Kiran S, and Special Secretary (Finance) Neelratan. The investigation team has been tasked with conducting a fair inquiry into the entire matter and reporting the facts to the government for necessary action.
