
Chennai, July 15: Renowned actress and Bigg Boss contestant Shivani Narayanan has paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary playback singer S. Janaki in her own simple style.
The celebrated singer recently passed away from a cardiac arrest in Mysuru. In her tribute, Shivani shared a video attempting to sing some of Janaki’s famous songs.
On her Instagram page, Shivani posted the video, stating, “No formal training, just heartfelt respect for the ‘Nightingale of the South.’”
She expressed that while she is not a professionally trained singer, her love for Janaki Amma’s magical voice inspires her to try. Growing up listening to Janaki Amma’s divine voice taught her to appreciate music. “This is just a small, heartfelt attempt. Singing her songs is incredibly challenging due to the perfect pitch and modulation of her voice, but I couldn’t hold back my love and respect for her,” Shivani shared.
The actress noted that the void left by the great singer’s passing cannot be filled, but her music will always provide solace.
Shivani added, “A golden voice has fallen silent, but her melodies will always resonate.”
S. Janaki, a celebrated singer who won the National Award four times, recorded over 48,000 songs in various Indian languages. She passed away on Saturday at a private hospital in Mysuru at the age of 88.
She was admitted to Apollo BGS Hospital in Mysuru on Saturday afternoon.
According to a statement released by the hospital, S. Janaki was admitted on July 11 at 12:49 PM in critical condition and was immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment.
Despite the close monitoring by a team of specialist doctors, the experienced singer suffered a cardiac arrest during treatment. Advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated as per standard medical protocol. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts to revive her, she experienced several cardiac arrests and could not be saved.
S. Janaki was declared dead on July 11 at 7:30 PM.
