Varanasi, February 25: Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand, embroiled in a child sexual abuse case, is facing potential arrest. He has now approached the High Court for anticipatory bail.

Avimukteshwaranand has demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations against him and his disciples, expressing a lack of public trust in the Uttar Pradesh police.

To avoid arrest, he filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the High Court. In a recent conversation, he mentioned that an investigation has commenced. He urged his followers to refrain from making statements that could influence the inquiry. He believes they have already answered previous questions adequately, and there is little left to say. As the investigation progresses, he expects the facts to become clearer.

Regarding a viral photo with police officers, he stated, “When we inquired about the photo’s origin, they claimed it was posted on their account. The question is, why are they creating AI-generated images to prove our closeness with the police? It is essential to determine where these photos originated.”

In response to a reward of 2.1 million for the severing of Ashutosh Brahmachari’s nose, Avimukteshwaranand clarified that no one would resort to such violence. He noted that there is anger among saints, which is being expressed verbally. He emphasized that violence has no place in their religion; the sentiments being expressed are merely frustration and sorrow.

On the allegations against him, Avimukteshwaranand stated, “It is highly inappropriate to level such accusations against someone in a prominent position like the Shankaracharya. A comprehensive investigation is necessary to uphold the dignity of this esteemed position within Sanatan Dharma. The inquiry must be fair and transparent. We believe that if something has occurred on our part, it should be clarified, and if not, that should also be made clear. However, there is a lack of public trust in the Uttar Pradesh police, so a committee from non-BJP states should be formed to ensure all facts are revealed.”
