Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC has sharply criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her remarks following the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. She urged Mamata Banerjee not to politicise the tragedy.
In an interaction with news agencies, Shaina NC said, “How far will you (Mamata Banerjee) go spreading rumours? For you, this may be a political issue, but please understand with sensitivity that this was an accident in which a leader lost his life.”
The Shiv Sena leader added, “Ajit Pawar served the state diligently for 50 years in active politics. He was on a campaign visit to Baramati for the district council elections. A technical fault could have occurred and an investigation should take place, but calling this a conspiracy is not a plot from some B-grade film. Please control yourself. If you cannot show sensitivity, refrain from such statements.”
On Ajit Pawar’s demise in the plane crash, Shaina NC highlighted his long career, saying, “Ajit Pawar had a 50-year political journey in Maharashtra. He served as MLA from Baramati, Finance Minister, Irrigation Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister multiple times. Sadly, he passed away on the day he completed 66 years, 6 months, and 6 days.”
She emphasised Ajit Pawar’s administrative skills and connection with the public: “He was not only a popular leader but also a capable administrator. For years, he was our neighbour and we shared a boundary wall. Every morning from 6 to 7:30 am, his OPD ward was open where people brought their problems, and he personally addressed them.”
Shaina NC further stated, “When it comes to naming an able administrator in Maharashtra politics, Ajit Pawar’s name stands out. His work for Baramati and the state will be missed in the triple-engine government. Leaders like Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde were like elder brothers to him.”
