Chennai, June 12: Tamil cinema is currently witnessing a surge in female-centric films, and one such movie is ‘Aatti.’ This film showcases women’s strength, struggles, and their fight for justice. Ahead of its release, producer and lead actor Esakki Karuvannan has revealed plans for a sequel.
Discussing the film, Karuvannan stated, “The story of ‘Aatti’ revolves around women who stand against injustice. The film portrays women as powerful figures who punish oppressors and those who commit atrocities against them. It raises questions about who these women are, where they derive their strength, and how they fight for justice against wrongdoers.”
He further emphasized, “The core message of the film is to highlight women’s power. Society often perceives women as weak, but history and traditions are filled with stories showcasing women’s ability to confront significant challenges when necessary. ‘Aatti’ aims to convey this message to the audience. The narrative is also connected to the contemporary fight for women’s confidence and rights.”
Karuvannan confirmed that a second part is already in the works to continue the story. This sequel will also depict women’s struggles, courage, and their journey towards justice. “If audiences enjoy the first part, the sequel will take this story to an even larger scale,” he added.
Actress Abi Nakshatra, known for her role in ‘Ayali,’ is generating buzz for her impactful character in this film. Alongside her, Kadhal Sukumar, Praveen Palanisamy, and several other actors will play significant roles.
Originally scheduled for release on June 5, 2026, ‘Aatti’ has now been pushed to June 12, 2026, to reach its audience.
