Kolkata, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : NCP MP Sayani Ghosh has expressed that the Congress party should form an alliance with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) under Rahul Gandhi‘s leadership. She believes this coalition would send a significant message about unity. Speaking to reporters, Ghosh stated, “I hope that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress will join hands with TMC. If this happens, it will convey that the alliance is genuine, not merely for show.”
Regarding the arrest of a Congress candidate in Nandigram, Ghosh mentioned that the individual had pending legal issues. “Anyone can approach the Election Commission or the court. In a democracy, whether it’s Congress, TMC, or BJP, everyone is free to exercise their democratic rights,” she remarked.
On the support from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the Congress candidate, Ghosh noted, “This is politics, and decisions made before elections are a matter between both parties.”
In response, West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh commented on the TMC candidate’s withdrawal from the election, warning that such actions could lead to the party’s downfall. “Why does a political party exist? To progress. We do not win every election. Some individuals shift allegiances, but does that mean the party ceases to exist? This only happens with Congress and parties arising from their political culture,” he stated.
