Sanju Samson Crowned ICC Player of the Month for March After Leading India to T20 World Cup Victory

New Delhi, April 14: Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has been awarded the ICC Player of the Month for March. Samson played a pivotal role in leading the Indian team to victory in the T20 World Cup, with three remarkable performances throughout the tournament.

After receiving the award, Samson expressed, “Winning the ICC Player of the Month title is an incredible feeling, especially as it coincides with one of the most memorable phases of my cricketing journey. Being part of India’s triumph in the Men’s T20 World Cup truly felt like a dream come true, and it took me some time to fully grasp the significance of that moment.”

He added, “This is an exciting time for Indian cricket, with talent emerging from all corners. I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve received and for the trust and support from my teammates and coaching staff, which enabled me to perform at my best.”

Alongside Samson, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was named Player of the Match in the T20 World Cup 2026 final, and South African batsman Connor Esterhuizen were also nominated for the Player of the Month award. Ultimately, Samson triumphed over both players to claim the title.

During the T20 World Cup 2026, Sanju Samson delivered three consecutive match-winning innings, securing the championship for India. In a quarter-final clash against the West Indies, he scored an unbeaten 97 runs, propelling India into the semi-finals. He followed this with scores of 89 against England in the semi-final and another 89 in the final against New Zealand. His consistent performances earned him the Player of the Series honor.
