
Mumbai, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Sanjay Dutt has responded to the backlash following his recent appearance on Shekhar Suman’s show, “Shekhar Tonight.” In a video statement, Dutt clarified that his comments were part of a scripted segment and were not intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.
He noted that several individuals reached out to him on social media, expressing surprise at his remarks, while others disagreed with his statements. Dutt acknowledged their feelings and aimed to clarify his position.
During the show, he explained, “What I said was part of a scripted segment, as is common in such television programs.” He emphasized that he was performing according to a script, and many of his comments were contextual to that performance. “These were not my personal opinions or emotions,” he added.
Dutt expressed gratitude for the trust and affection of his friends and supporters. He stated, “I would never want a scripted performance to lead to misunderstandings about my true thoughts.” He hopes this clarification will provide the right context for his remarks.
Earlier, Dutt had also addressed the issue on social media platform X, reiterating that he never intended to offend any individual, community, or organization. He described his comments as part of a light-hearted, scripted conversation.
He compared the spirit of his remarks to the “Gandhigiri” concept from his popular “Munna Bhai” films, emphasizing that the aim was to promote love, unity, and goodwill.
Dutt appeared on Suman’s show on Gandhi Jayanti, where he shared his thoughts on the current state of the country, expressing a longing for the peace that once prevailed. He remarked on the warmth of the Indian people, stressing the need for harmony and hospitality.
In a prayer to Lord Shiva, he wished for the return of peace and better days for the nation. His comments have since gone viral on social media, sparking political discussions.
