New Delhi, July 15: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Deshmukh has voiced his support for women’s reservation and the issue of delimitation. He emphasized that women’s reservation is a pressing need at this time. In response to the meeting between Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, as well as a meeting of Shiv Sena MPs with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Deshmukh stated that such meetings should not be viewed through a political lens.
Regarding the speculation surrounding Sharad Pawar’s support for women’s reservation and delimitation, Deshmukh asserted that women should have adequate representation in politics. The demand for political reservation for women has been raised for a long time, and it is now time to implement it. Women have showcased their talent and capabilities in education, sports, administration, and various other fields. Therefore, it is only natural that they receive equal participation in politics. If Supriya Sule has made a positive decision regarding women’s reservation and delimitation, it should be welcomed.
On the ongoing discussions about the meeting between Eknath Shinde and Sharad Pawar, Deshmukh remarked that Sharad Pawar is one of the country’s senior and respected leaders. His respect is acknowledged not only in Maharashtra but throughout the nation. When a senior leader meets with another political party’s leader, it is customary and respectful to welcome such interactions, which is part of Indian culture and particularly Maharashtra’s political tradition. This meeting should not be viewed politically.
Referring to the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Deshmukh noted that six MPs supporting Eknath Shinde collectively attended the meeting. The purpose was not political discussion but to present development projects and pending issues from their respective constituencies to the central government. They raised several regional development issues, including significant railway projects related to Wardha, Yavatmal, and Nanded, urging for their prompt completion.
Deshmukh stated that the Union Home Minister listened to their demands seriously and provided positive assurances. There was also constructive discussion regarding the necessary financial assistance and development plans for the region, and he is confident that progress on these projects will be seen soon.
