Mumbai, May 27: Actor Saif Ali Khan is currently in the spotlight for his upcoming Netflix film “Kartavya.” While busy with promotions, he shared that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.
In a recent conversation, Saif reacted to his 25-year-old viral line, “I play the guitar,” calling the clip quite amusing. During the interview, when co-stars Rasika Duggal and Manish Chaudhari were asked if Saif delivers one-liners on set, Rasika praised his comic timing, stating, “All the time! He is one of those actors who loves to have fun.”
Saif responded, “I don’t take myself too seriously. Once we nail the scene, we can have a little fun.”
The discussion also brought back memories of a nearly 25-year-old interview on Doordarshan, where he famously stated, “I play the guitar.” This clip continues to go viral on social media. Smiling, Saif remarked, “I’ve seen that clip. It’s funny, really funny. It has all sorts of things in it.” He added that many statements from that interview might now be considered illegal, and perhaps were even then.
In that same old interview, Saif compared his favorite actresses, Madhubala and Zeenat Aman. He noted, “With the differences between them… I don’t know what that difference was. It’s a strange thing.”
While promoting “Kartavya,” Saif also discussed his work. He mentioned that crime dramas are quite prevalent these days, but as an actor, he strives to bring something new to each character. Saif emphasized, “The real thing is to portray the person, not just the cop. Every individual is different.”
He further stated that if he had to repeat the same role, the director and producer would create a different atmosphere. Saif believes that if an actor remains true to themselves, their essence will inevitably shine through in their character.
