Sachin Tendulkar Remembers Asha Bhosles Priceless Gift, Fulfilled a Heartfelt Wish After 36 Years

Mumbai, July 1: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared a heartfelt memory of the late singer Asha Bhosle. He revealed that approximately 36 years ago, Bhosle gifted him something that transformed his perspective on music.

Tendulkar took to Instagram to post several photos and a video featuring him with members of the famous French music group, the Gipsy Kings. In one photo, he is seen conversing with lead singer Nicolas Reyes, while in others, all the artists pose together for the camera.

In the caption, Tendulkar wrote, “In 1990, Asha Tai gifted me two CDs from the Gipsy Kings. After listening to those albums, I became a huge fan of the group and enjoyed their music for years. About 36 years later, I met the members of this group at a friend’s summer party. It was a fantastic surprise for me.”

He concluded his post with, “There are moments in life that you wait for years, but when they finally arrive, the joy is beyond words.”

Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12, 2026, at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multiple organ failure at the age of 92. Her last rites were conducted with full state honors at the Shivaji Park crematorium in Mumbai, attended by numerous prominent figures from film, music, politics, and industry.

Throughout her illustrious career, Asha Bhosle received numerous national and international accolades. In 2000, she was honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and in 2008, she received the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in the country.
