Meghan Markle Distressed by Father’s Child Abuse Allegations
Meghan Markle expressed deep distress following reports that her father, Thomas Markle, is under investigation for possessing child sexual abuse materials.

LONDON, Oct 23: Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has stated she is ‘deeply distressed’ by reports that her father, Thomas Markle, is under investigation for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse materials.
Authorities in the Philippines confirmed the investigation after Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., reported discovering disturbing materials in storage boxes at their father’s home in Cebu. The allegations emerged after Markle Sr. returned to the U.S. in May following health issues, including a stroke.
Meghan indicated that she was aware of troubling allegations against her father since 2018. In a statement, she said, ‘In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police… It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated.’ She added that her choice to distance herself from him was solely to protect her children.
Markle Sr. has denied all accusations, labeling them as ‘sick lies.’ He expressed, ‘I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me. I could never do what I’m being accused of.’
Philippine officials have stated that the investigation is being conducted by their anti-trafficking task force. The Justice Department confirmed it is looking into claims involving an American national who allegedly left child abuse materials in his home.
Meghan’s hopes for justice were clear in her statement: ‘My sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.’
