Sachin Tendulkar Remembers 2011 World Cup Victory After 15 Years

Mumbai, April 2: Every cricketer dreams of winning a World Cup for their country. Sachin Tendulkar began his cricketing journey with this aspiration. He made his international debut in November 1989, and his dream of winning the World Cup came true on April 2, 2011. Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Team India defeated Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to clinch the title. This victory marked India’s second ODI World Cup triumph.

Tendulkar played a crucial role in leading the Indian team to victory in the 2011 World Cup. On the 15th anniversary of this historic achievement, he shared an emotional video on X, showcasing himself in action on the field.

In the caption, he expressed, “The first ball always quickens your heartbeat, and that night, it never stopped. Even after 15 years, it remains with us. We all grew up as a group of young cricketers, united by one dream: to win the World Cup for India.”

He further thanked everyone who was part of this journey and the fans for sharing and making it so special. “Jai Hind,” he added.

Tendulkar was the second-highest run-scorer in the 2011 tournament, amassing 482 runs in nine matches, including two centuries and two half-centuries. The top scorer was Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan, who scored 500 runs in the same number of matches.
