Rohit Shetty Shooting Incident: Gangs Pre-Attack Surveillance Revealed

Mumbai, February 3: Shocking revelations have emerged from the Mumbai Crime Branch investigation into the shooting incident outside director and producer Rohit Shetty‘s home in Juhu. Police discovered that suspects linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang conducted surveillance on Shetty’s residence and its surroundings for several days prior to the attack.

The investigation revealed that the surveillance was carried out using the same scooter that was later used for the getaway. An unidentified shooter fired five rounds before fleeing the scene on the scooter. The shooter reached Ville Parle railway station, where he abandoned the scooter and left Mumbai by train.

According to police, the scooter used in the crime was purchased for ₹30,000 from Pune. It was originally registered in the name of Anand Marote, who bought it on August 6, 2009. About 12 days before the incident, Marote sold the scooter to the arrested suspect, Aditya Gaikwad, for ₹30,000. The payment was allegedly made by the mastermind, Shubham Lonkar.

The Crime Branch reported that under the direction of accused Samarth Pomaji, Siddharth Yenpure and Swapnil Sakhat attempted to transport the scooter from Pune to Lonavala to hand it over to the shooter. However, since the shooter could not reach Lonavala, the accused delivered the scooter to Mumbai about ten days before the incident. They received additional payments for this. Police stated that the individuals who brought the scooter to Mumbai were aware it was part of a criminal conspiracy, but they did not know the target was Rohit Shetty’s home.

The investigation also revealed that Samarth Pomaji actively assisted the main shooter. Following Shubham Lonkar’s instructions, Samarth arranged the scooter with Gaikwad’s help and played a crucial role in the crime. Samarth maintained regular contact with Shubham via the Signal app. While working under Shubham’s directives, Samarth allegedly devised the entire shooting plan.

Police have arrested four suspects: Aditya Gaikwad, Siddharth Yenpure, Samarth Pomaji, and Swapnil Sakhat. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are actively searching for the mastermind, Shubham Lonkar.
