Mumbai, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Tanushree Dutta’s recent comment referring to the late actor Nana Patekar as “evil dead” has ignited a wave of backlash on social media. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICW) has strongly condemned her statement, labeling it as offensive and inhumane.
In a statement released on the social media platform X, AICW President Engineer Suresh Shyamlal Gupta expressed that using such language about someone after their death is against humanity. He emphasized that no one in the film industry has ever made a remark like this following a death.
Gupta stated, “The AICW vehemently condemns Tanushree Dutta’s ‘evil dead’ comment regarding the demise of the esteemed actor Nana Patekar. The entire film industry and the nation are mourning his loss. He was a Padma Shri awardee, served the country during the Kargil War, and stood with farmers in times of crisis. We pay our humble tribute to him and stand with his family during this sorrowful time.”
He further added, “Using such words after someone’s death is against humanity. No one in our film industry has ever made such a statement after a death. You are the first, and we pray you will be the last. People in this industry know what to say and when to remain silent during such times. You should have controlled your tongue.”
Gupta advised Dutta to focus on her work and refrain from using derogatory terms about individuals. He remarked, “You mentioned you are headed to Lucknow for a major event, with your day planned out. Focus on your work; no one asked you to comment on this. Whether your event is in Lucknow or London, it doesn’t matter. Talking about your plans on a day when the nation mourns a great artist reflects a narrow mindset. We pray for the peace of Nana Patekar’s soul.”
