Record Rainfall Disrupts Life in Hanumangarh, Many Families Displaced

Hanumangarh, 1 September (Kiran News). Heavy rainfall in Hanumangarh district since last night has severely impacted daily life, displacing several families and causing widespread waterlogging. According to data from the District Collector’s office, 571 mm of rain was recorded across the district in the past 24 hours, as of 8 am Monday. The worst-affected area was Fefana, which received 110 mm of rain, followed by Hanumangarh headquarters (59 mm), Pallu (67 mm), Nohar (68 mm), Tibbi (35 mm), Khuiyan (56 mm), and Rawatsar (26 mm). Areas with lower rainfall included Pilibanga (5 mm), Goluvala (6 mm), and Daba (7 mm).

Waterlogging in Government Offices and Villages

Major government offices, including the Collectorate and SP office, were submerged, with water levels reaching 2–3 feet at their entrances. Other offices such as the Women’s Police Station, District Consumer Commission, CO City Office, DST, and Home Guard departments also suffered waterlogging, disrupting normal operations.

Villages Worst Hit; Families Shifted to Safety

In Makkasar village, conditions were particularly dire, with water entering low-lying homes. Many families had to evacuate, using tractor-trolleys to move their belongings to safer locations. Around 80 homes were affected, with about 40 families finding shelter in the homes of fellow villagers, while others were accommodated in the Panchayat Bhavan and community health center.

Agriculture Losses Reported

The heavy rain has also damaged Kharif crops, with groundnut, millet, and cotton fields affected by waterlogging.

Relief Measures Underway

SDM Mangilal informed that affected villagers are being sheltered in the Panchayat Bhavan and health center, and arrangements will be made in government schools if needed.
