Beijing, July 11: The National Immigration Administration of China has released key statistics and achievements regarding its immigration management for the first half of 2026. According to the report, the number of cross-border travelers reached a record high, foreign tourism continued to thrive, and immigration services became increasingly convenient and user-friendly.
In the first half of the year, immigration management agencies across the country inspected a total of 369 million incoming and outgoing travelers. This marks a 10.8% increase compared to the same period last year, setting a new record.
The number of countries allowing visa-free entry for Chinese passport holders is steadily increasing, enhancing the significance of the Chinese passport. During a press conference, it was announced that since the beginning of this year, Turkey, Brazil, Sudan, Cambodia, and other nations have declared unilateral visa-free policies for holders of ordinary Chinese passports.
Additionally, China is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination for foreigners. The press conference revealed that in the first half of the year, national immigration management agencies issued 991,000 visas and permits to foreigners, with 22.9 million foreigners entering China. This represents a 20.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
