RCB Tops IPL 2026 Standings as MI and LSG Exit Playoff Race

New Delhi, May 11: The IPL 2026 witnessed two thrilling matches on Sunday. In the first match, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets. In the second match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) triumphed over Mumbai Indians (MI), securing the top position in the points table.

RCB now has 14 points from 11 matches, with a net run rate of +1.103. The match took place at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, where RCB chased down MI’s target of 167 runs, winning by two wickets. MI batted first, scoring 166 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Tilak Varma was the standout performer for MI, scoring a powerful 57 runs off 42 balls, while Naman Dhir contributed 47 runs from 32 balls.

RCB achieved the target on the last ball, losing eight wickets in the process. The hero of RCB’s victory was Krunal Pandya, who played a remarkable innings of 73 runs off 46 balls. On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took four wickets for just 23 runs. This loss pushed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) down to second place in the standings, despite also having 14 points, as RCB’s net run rate is superior. Gujarat Titans hold the third position with 14 points, while Punjab Kings are fourth with 13 points.

With this defeat, Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from playoff contention. This marks MI’s eighth loss in the tournament’s 11 matches. In the earlier match, CSK defeated LSG by five wickets. LSG batted first, scoring 203 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs, with Josh Inglis making a sensational 85 runs off 33 balls.

CSK successfully chased down the target of 204 runs in 19.2 overs, losing five wickets. Urvil Patel delivered a blistering performance, scoring 65 runs off just 23 balls, while captain Ruturaj Gaikwad added 42 runs from 28 balls.

With this defeat, LSG’s chances of making the playoffs are also over, as they faced their eighth loss in the 11th match. CSK’s victory elevates them to fifth place in the standings with 12 points, while Rajasthan Royals drop to sixth. Kolkata Knight Riders remain in seventh place, and Delhi Capitals occupy the eighth position in the table.
