Attention ration card holders: The Government of India has made e-KYC mandatory for all Public Distribution System (PDS) beneficiaries. The deadline to complete this process is June 30, 2025. Failing to do so could result in cancellation of your ration card — meaning you may no longer receive free or subsidized rations from the government.
If you have already completed e-KYC but your name has mistakenly been removed from the ration card list, you should immediately contact your local ration shop or food supply office. Carry valid documents (such as Aadhaar card and mobile number) and request correction. If there are discrepancies in your Aadhaar data — incorrect name, date of birth, or unlinked mobile number — make sure to update those first.
Last Date for KYC in UP and Bihar: June 30
Both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have set June 30, 2025 as the last date for Aadhaar linking and e-KYC of ration cards:
In Bihar, the Food and Consumer Protection Department has clarified that there is no fee for Aadhaar seeding. Beneficiaries can complete e-KYC at any Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) shop using an e-POS machine.
If e-KYC for any member listed on the ration card is not completed by June 30, their name will be removed, and they will no longer receive food grain benefits starting from July 1, 2025.
In Uttar Pradesh, the same deadline applies. If KYC is not completed by June 30, beneficiaries may stop receiving food grains under the PDS system.
Good news for migrants: Under the One Nation One Ration Card scheme, beneficiaries living in another state do not need to travel home for Aadhaar seeding. They can complete the process at their nearest PDS shop through the e-POS system — regardless of location.
Why Is e-KYC Necessary for Ration Card Holders?
The purpose of e-KYC — Know Your Customer — is to verify the identity of ration card holders and eliminate fake or duplicate ration cards. This ensures that only genuine, eligible beneficiaries continue to receive benefits.
Under this process, each family member’s Aadhaar details (name, date of birth, gender) are cross-verified with their ration card data. Any discrepancies can be flagged and corrected. The move is aimed at making the ration distribution system more transparent and accountable.
How to Complete Ration Card e-KYC Online
While the online e-KYC process varies by state, here are the general steps:
Visit your state PDS portal — e.g., fcs.up.gov.in for Uttar Pradesh or sfc.bihar.gov.in for Bihar.
Under the Services or Ration Card menu, look for an option such as “e-KYC for Ration Card.”
Enter your Ration Card number and Aadhaar number (usually of the head of the family).
Use the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and verify with the OTP received.
After verification, a confirmation message will indicate successful completion of e-KYC.
Final Reminder
For all ration card holders in UP, Bihar, and other states with similar deadlines — ensure that your e-KYC is completed before June 30, 2025, to continue receiving subsidized or free rations. Delays could lead to your card being deactivated. Stay alert, and help spread the word so that no eligible family misses out on these vital benefits.
