New Delhi, June 21: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has completed extensive preparations for the successful and fair conduct of the NEET UG 2026 examination. The agency announced on its official social media platform, X, that exceptional security and monitoring arrangements have been established for this crucial exam, scheduled for June 21. Over 2.2 million candidates are expected to participate.
According to the NTA, the exam will be conducted at 5,440 centers across 551 cities in India, as well as at 14 centers abroad. The examination will be available in English and 12 Indian languages. The agency aims to provide all candidates with a fair, secure, and convenient testing environment.
To enhance security, more than 95,000 examination rooms will be equipped with CCTV cameras. A total of 138,560 cameras will facilitate live monitoring of exam activities at the national, state, and ministry levels. Additionally, footage from these cameras will undergo AI-based analysis to promptly detect any suspicious activities.
To prevent cheating and other irregularities, 51,311 jammers have been installed. This arrangement has been made with the assistance of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
The NTA has stated that two invigilators will be present in each examination room, with more than 10 officials and staff members at every center. Furthermore, 38,795 frisking personnel and 48,448 biometric staff have been appointed. This year, a face authentication system has also been included. Approximately 6,700 observers and over 100 virtual observers will oversee the examination process.
To secure confidential examination materials, the NTA has enlisted the services of police, paramilitary forces, the Indian Air Force, and the postal department. A nationwide mock drill was conducted on June 20 to test all arrangements. For candidates’ convenience, water, ORS, ambulances, seating and shade for parents, wall clocks in each room, and extra rough sheets will be provided at the examination centers.
The NTA has urged candidates and parents to rely only on official information. The agency has dismissed rumors of paper leaks and other misinformation circulating on social media as baseless, advising caution. It also wished all students good luck, encouraging them to approach the exam with confidence.
