Patna, March 7: Bihar Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramkripal Yadav has sharply reacted to the controversial statement made by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee. Yadav stated that the TMC does not believe in the Constitution and emphasized that the people of Bengal will make the TMC aware of its standing this time.
Yadav addressed Banerjee’s inflammatory comment, where he suggested that if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar were not in a constitutional position, he would “cut off his fingers.”
Speaking to a news agency, Yadav remarked, “The TMC does not respect the Constitution and makes such statements against those in constitutional positions. Is such language permissible in a democracy? This time, the people of Bengal will show the TMC its place.”
He also commented on the protests against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee concerning the SIR, stating, “SIR is a constitutional process. Through SIR, individuals in constitutional positions should fulfill their responsibilities. If the government there wants to gain power by creating a vote bank of illegal immigrants, that will not happen. The law applies to everyone. If there are issues for the Bengal government and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, nothing can be said about that.”
Meanwhile, regarding the no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Yadav described it as unfortunate. He noted, “It is unfortunate that Congress and other opposition parties are bringing a no-confidence motion against the Speaker. As far as I know, the Speaker has had the opportunity to serve in the Lok Sabha for a long time. He conducts proceedings with complete impartiality and listens to everyone, whether they are from the ruling party or the opposition. He does not discriminate and has consistently fulfilled his constitutional duties.”
Yadav concluded, “If opposition leaders lack respect for the Speaker, it reflects a regrettable mindset. If the opposition aims to showcase their face by putting the Speaker in the dock, I can assure you that their face will not shine.”
