RJD Lawmaker Blames LPG Crisis on Bihar Government Amid Gas Cylinder Seizures

Patna, March 14: Amid rising global tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, the district administration in Madhubani, Bihar, remained alert on Saturday regarding a potential gas shortage.

Police seized a significant number of LPG cylinders from a bicycle repair shop in Tamuriya village after receiving a tip-off. The raid was conducted under the jurisdiction of the Lakhanour police station.

Authorities allege that the bicycle shop was being used as a front for storing and black marketing domestic and commercial gas cylinders. During the operation, police recovered dozens of commercial LPG cylinders and nearly two dozen domestic ones.

In connection with this case, police arrested Lakshman Mahto, the son of resident Jai Narayan Mahto from Tamuriya village.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Subodh Kumar Sinha spoke about the case, confirming that the seized cylinders belong to Hindustan Petroleum. Officials suspect that local gas agency operators may be involved in the illegal storage of gas.

However, they have not disclosed the names of any gas agencies yet, as the investigation is ongoing. According to the SDPO, details of those involved will be revealed once the inquiry is complete.

Meanwhile, RJD legislator Bhai Virendra from Maner criticized the Bihar government over issues related to LPG pricing and supply. Speaking at a memorial event for teacher Jainendra Prasad Singh on the first anniversary of his death in Akhtiarpur, Virendra claimed that the current LPG shortage is artificially created.

He compared the situation to the 2016 demonetization campaign, asserting that while ordinary citizens faced long queues, certain individuals profited through black marketing.

Virendra further stated that such a significant shortage of LPG cylinders cannot occur naturally, suggesting that the crisis is being deliberately engineered to benefit specific groups.
