Hyderabad, May 22: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricket director Mo Bobat confirmed on Friday that captain Rajat Patidar is fit to play in the upcoming league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Patidar sustained a head injury during a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Raipur, which prevented him from participating in the game against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.
During a press conference ahead of the match against SRH, Bobat stated, “Rajat is now fully ready. We were quite cautious with him and did not want to take any risks. We thought it best to give him a little more time to recover and rest, but he is here, training, and completely prepared to play.”
Bobat praised RCB’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who currently holds the Purple Cap with 24 wickets from 13 matches. He remarked, “Bhuvneshwar has been outstanding. His results have been excellent. He has not only taken many wickets but has also bowled with great rhythm. He has been effective both at the start and the end of the innings. We are very pleased with his performance.”
He added, “He contributes valuable insights during team meetings. In pressure situations on the field, he proves to be a great support for the team with his intelligence and ideas. He can be a significant asset for Rajat and Jitesh. We benefit greatly from him. He gives everything for the team.”
As the playoffs approach, Bobat emphasized the importance of staying grounded. He said, “While this may sound cliché, we try to focus on one match at a time. It doesn’t matter whether we are playing at home or away. We aim to understand the conditions, respect the opposing team, and strategize against them. We focus on our strengths and strive to perform our best.”
Bobat expressed confidence in the team’s consistent performance, stating, “I don’t know if there’s a code or secret to it. The good thing is that we are performing well consistently. Obviously, we have won several games, and even in the matches we didn’t win, we put up a strong fight. So, we feel good about our position.”
Regarding the upcoming match against SRH, Bobat noted that all teams in the tournament are strong. “Every team has dangerous players. Any player can turn the match in their favor. You must maintain a humble and respectful attitude towards the opposing team while being clear about your own strengths,” he concluded.
