
Jaipur, April 8: The Rajasthan government has taken serious action following the tragic deaths of children in Salumber due to an unidentified illness. A comprehensive disease control and surveillance campaign has been launched across all seven districts of the Udaipur division.
Under the direction of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, expert teams have been formed to investigate the causes of the illness. Extensive preventive measures and monitoring efforts are underway. Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khivsar is closely monitoring the situation.
A team from RNT Medical College, along with a state-level delegation, has visited the affected areas to assess the situation and provide guidelines for treatment and testing processes.
Principal Secretary of Health and Medical Services, Gayatri Rathore, reported that 3,690 teams have conducted door-to-door surveys, covering over 52,000 households. During this initiative, 275 symptomatic individuals were identified, with 25 being referred to higher medical centers for better treatment.
Awareness programs have also been conducted at more than 13,000 locations under information, education, and communication campaigns.
Public Health Director Dr. Ravi Prakash Sharma confirmed the death of a four-year-old child in Semari village, Salumber. He noted that 651 patients received immediate treatment across the division on Tuesday.
As part of preventive measures, anti-larval activities have been carried out at 2,557 locations to combat mosquito-borne diseases. Additionally, 1,796 blood slides were prepared, and 94 samples were collected for testing.
The health department has intensified monitoring and urged the public to report any symptoms immediately to the nearest health center and to strictly adhere to the issued guidelines.
Officials are continuously monitoring the situation and ensuring prompt action as needed.
