
Jaipur, May 29: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the ‘Nindar-Benad Biodiversity Project Eco-Trail’ in the Nindar forest area on Friday. He participated in voluntary labor at a check dam as part of the ongoing ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign’ in the state.
During a media interaction, Sharma stated, “Our ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign’ is being conducted across Rajasthan from May 25 to June 5. I am here today at a beautiful location that also houses a temple dedicated to Baba Bholenath, surrounded by several check dams.”
The Chief Minister highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the dream of water self-sufficiency in Rajasthan is becoming a reality. He urged citizens to actively contribute to the conservation and enhancement of water resources.
Sharma noted the immense ecological and tourism potential of the Nindar forest area. He mentioned that the state government plans to develop this area through large-scale tree plantation and eco-tourism initiatives.
He added that efforts are ongoing to construct drainage channels and water conservation structures at suitable locations to ensure effective rainwater harvesting.
Referring to national initiatives, the Chief Minister mentioned that the government is promoting a tree plantation campaign inspired by the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ initiative, aiming to plant 100 million trees this year.
He further stated that programs like ‘Green Rajasthan’ and ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation’ will strengthen community participation in environmental and water conservation efforts.
Sharma also directed officials to develop eco-friendly public facilities in the Nindar forest area, including a walking path for visitors.
During the event, the Chief Minister planted a white sandalwood sapling, set up water containers for birds, and distributed basil plants to women, highlighting the importance of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
He performed rituals around a peepal tree while chanting Vedic mantras and prayed at a Shiva temple for the prosperity of the state.
The event was attended by State Minister for Forest and Environment Sanjay Sharma, local representatives, senior officials, and a large number of citizens.
