Rainfall Slows Down in Rajasthan, Yellow Alert Issued for Four Districts

Jaipur, 27 August (Kiran News). The heavy rainfall that Rajasthan has been experiencing over the past few days has now slowed down. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, and Banswara on Wednesday. Meanwhile, schools in Tonk and Bundi will remain closed today due to weather conditions.

On Tuesday, light to moderate and occasionally heavy rain was reported in Alwar, Jodhpur, Sikar, Jaisalmer, and Kotputli-Behror. Banswara’s Bhungra recorded 6 inches of rain, while Dausa, Alwar, and Pratapgarh, among other districts, received between 1 and 3 inches. Due to bad weather, an Indigo flight from Hyderabad to Jodhpur was unable to land and was diverted to Udaipur. Gates of Fatehsagar Lake in Udaipur were opened. In Jhadol, the Wakal river overflowed, cutting off access between Vas and Narsinghpura as the culvert was submerged. Heavy rain in Ramdevra, Jaisalmer, caused trouble for devotees, and a pond wall collapsed. Fortunately, no one was present at the time. Two people died after drowning in the Sukri river in Jalore. Reports say that Pasiya Devi got trapped in a pit dug by sand mafias in the river. In an attempt to save her, Chhotaram also drowned, while a third woman, Katuwa Devi, was rescued.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, rainfall was as follows: Bhungra in Banswara received 154 mm, Kotri in Bhilwara 53 mm, Kathumar in Alwar 89 mm, Kotkasim 35 mm, Khairthal 33 mm, and Bansur 40 mm. Kanawas in Kota received 39 mm, Kotputli 40 mm, Setrawada in Phalodi 85 mm, and Dhariyawad in Pratapgarh 69 mm. Additionally, Kurabad in Udaipur saw 49 mm, Tinwari in Jodhpur 35 mm, Mania in Dholpur 68 mm, and Bundi 44 mm.

Jaisalmer was the hottest place in Rajasthan on Tuesday, recording a maximum temperature of 38°C. Alwar was the coolest at 29.8°C. Other maximum temperatures: Ajmer 31.6°C, Bhilwara 31.2°C, Jaipur 31.8°C, Sikar 33.5°C, Kota 30.3°C, Chittorgarh 32.2°C, Jhunjhunu 31.8°C, Barmer 34.8°C, Bikaner and Phalodi 34.6°C, Nagaur 34.5°C, Churu 32.8°C, Dholpur and Dausa 30.8°C, Karauli 31.9°C, and Pratapgarh 28.8°C.

According to weather experts, the current monsoon trough is active from Sriganganagar, Sirsa, Agra, Sidhi, and Sambalpur, extending to the Bay of Bengal. Due to weakening easterly winds, rainfall activity is expected to remain subdued in the coming days.
